When people think of MiniTec GmbH, headquartered in Schönenberg-Kübelberg, many don’t immediately realise what products this company develops and sells. However, there’s a good chance you’ve already come into contact with a MiniTec product, even if you may not realise it. We discovered this first-hand at the Leadership Connect meeting with American Army and Air Force leaders. Also,we couldn't have picked a better time for a visit: MiniTec will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026! The company was founded in Waldmohr in 1986, marking the start of an extraordinary journey for this family-owned enterprise. Today, MiniTec employs around 420 people worldwide across nine locations, 280 of whom are based in Germany.

Among the most important product groups are the modular profile system and the linear system. The modular design principle, which is evident throughout the entire product range, enables individual components to be flexibly combined, tailored to specific customer requirements and expanded at any time. This results in solutions for a wide variety of industries: from workstation and safety systems to conveyor technology and specialized applications, such as fire trucks, RV interiors, or safety fences. At the same time, the company has evolved into a leading technology partner. MiniTec supports its customers throughout the entire value chain—from consulting and project planning using in-house software development to on-site installation.

The on-site visit impressively demonstrated this development: MiniTec has managed to clearly distinguish itself from the competition through comprehensive solutions and successfully position itself in the market with innovative products, such as its signature connecting element.

During the tour of the company's premises, participants gained insight into various areas of the facility, including the warehouses, assembly and automation areas, and the production floor, where aluminium profiles are cut to size and machined.

The discussion among the participants also provided some fascinating insights into current workplace trends. While employees used to remain with the same company for many years, younger generations today are more open to changing jobs. At MiniTec, however, it is evident that some employees return after a few years — a development that the company's leadership views positively, as new experiences bring fresh perspectives. As a family-run business, MiniTec places great value on a close-knit, personal corporate culture, which is appreciated by employees and executives alike.

Like many organisations, however, MiniTec faces the challenge of preserving knowledge when experienced employees leave the company. To address this issue, key positions are increasingly being filled by two people, ideally employees who have completed their training within the company and are eager to take on more responsibility. In addition, the 'Mission Future' project was launched last year with the aim of systematically documenting important knowledge.

Another key focus is recruiting young talent. To this end, MiniTec collaborates closely with schools and universities in Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken. The MiniTec Future Day, for instance, provides hands-on experience of apprenticeship and dual degree programmes.

When it comes to continuing education, everyone agrees that investing in employee development is crucial to ensuring a long-term supply of qualified professionals. MiniTec therefore regularly provides training for its sales staff and managers.

And just as creative as the atmosphere is in MiniTec’s workshops area — where employees and trainees regularly try out new ideas—the exchange concluded: Inspired by the company’s social media presence and website, initial ideas have already been gathered on how MiniTec can further expand its online presence in the future.
